Alun Rossiter leaves Swindon Speedway

Rossco has left his post to take up a managerial role with the Coventry Bees

Alun Rossiter:
six seasons as Robins' manager
After six years as Swindon Robins' team manager, Alun Rossiter has
left his post to take up a managerial role with the Coventry Bees.

Rossiter was unveiled as the new Coventry team manager and co-promoter at a press conference this afternoon and will begin his new role with immediate effect.

During his managerial reign at Swindon, Rossiter has lead Swindon to two Elite League Pairs Championships, a victory in the 2008 Elite Shield and steered the club to the end-of-season Play-Offs on four
successive occasions, being beaten finalists twice.

Having been the club’s former mascot and then ridden for the side,
Rossiter took charge of Swindon’s team management when the club
re-joined the Elite league in 2004.

Rossiter’s successor at Swindon will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

Swindon co-owner Gary Patchett said: “When Alun rang me he said it was the hardest call he had ever had to make. I fully understand why he has taken the decision to grasp this opportunity.

"It is a much more far-reaching role than the part time position he has
held at Swindon and I would never stand in the way of someone who takes a decision in the best interests of his family.

"I consider Alun a close friend and have enjoyed standing alongside him these last five years. It goes without saying that we wish him well in his new position and look forward to seeing him back at Blunsdon in
the near future, albeit on the other side of the pits!”

"Right for me to embrace a new challenge"

Alun Rossiter said: “On a personal level, this is an exciting new
opportunity for me which was too good to turn away. But more
importantly, the role will allow me to provide a better future for my
young family.

"I would like to thank Terry Russell for granting me the opportunity to
manage Swindon and being a great tutor throughout my six seasons with the club. I would also like to say a heartfelt thank you to Gary
Patchett and his family who have always been very supportive.

"Thank you to the hard working Blunsdon track staff and everyone who has helped me since 2004. Of course, the loyal Swindon supporters have been brilliant, too.

"The club will always have a huge place in my heart and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the past six seasons, but I felt the time was right for me to embrace a new challenge."
